Welcome to the training division of Wokingham, Bracknell & Districts Mencap which was set up in July 2009. We specialise in low cost, high quality autism awareness training.
Our training is designed to meet the need created by the Autism Act 2009 and the December 2010 statutory guidance. This states that local authorities and the NHS should provide autism awareness training for all staff and additional specialist training for key staff.
Our training course comprises the use of presentation, exercises and group discussion which provide an increased awareness, knowledge and understanding of autism and a sound foundation of knowledge on which to build.
We operate on a commercial basis and generate funds for a variety of activities, including social groups for adults on the autism spectrum.
If you would like to talk to us about your specific training requirements please contact our office on 0300 777 8539 or email us and we will be pleased to help.
We always try to see things from your point of view. We believe that only by understanding your needs can we provide training solutions that continue to deliver long after the training is over.
All our training and materials are reviewed by a quality assurance panel while the quality of our training is constantly endorsed by a high level of repeat business and highly complimentary feedback.
We are proud to have worked with Wokingham Borough Council, Bracknell Forest Council, Thames Valley Probation Service, Norwood-Ravenswood, Kingwood, Orchard Shipman and Link Nursing to name but a few. We have also trained delegates from numerous care and health providers, schools and charities.
Every Feedback Form is kept on file and is open to inspection. Over 95% of delegates have given maximum marks for content and quality and comments include:
"I think this was the best workshop I have ever attended"
"I really enjoyed the class and it's given me a real insight into how people with autism feel and behave"
"Good delivery of the subject"
"The course was very well run with adequate breaks, good pace and plenty of time for questions. Course instructor was very knowledgeable and with plenty of useful experiences to draw from in order to aid our understanding"
